Fun on Mauna Kea!

I know I'm a little behind on the update, but I didn't have time to edit my pictures until now.

On Saturday, our wonderful friends gave us the opportunity to experience the tallest mountain in the world (6,ooo ft of it underwater). It was such an amazing trip!

It started with me, Steff, Sam and Joe picking up our friend James. Then we headed over to his friends house for the more suitable car for the journey. We all piled into the truck and went to gas up and stock up on munchies. Auntie Thelma made us DELICIOUS sandwiches so we only needed chips and such.

This took like three hours total, so, as you can imagine, we were all thrilled to finally be on our way.

The scenery was surreal: Beautiful green pastures, many combaya trees, wild animals running free (well not really free).... it was amazing. As we gained elevation, the warmth thinned, and soon enough, so did the air. When we were at the half way mark we all could feel it.
After that point, it was the obvious DANGER journey. The road was gravel, half of it was one laned, and very steep! AND SUUUPPPERRR high up. Yeah, I'll admit it- I WAS a little scared.
Anyways we got up all safe and sound. Then when we hopped out of the truck for a bathroom break, Steff and I nearly feel over because of how light headed we were. When I say the air was thin, I mean it! We felt HIGH literally!
Anyways after that it was all fun and all games. We sled on body boards (and walked slowly back up cuz we were always out-of-breath), ate and sled some more!

Here are some piks so you guys get the idea..

Our Snowmen (Umpa Lumpa and Willie Wonka)

(soaked so he took everything off)

Me with Umpa!

Well that's a little of our adventure. Sorry that the Piks are mostly grey scale, for some reason my computer doesn't allow me to use PICNIK so I had to use some nock-off, no offense to FOTOFLEXER..

Typical Night Shift?

So, as I was at work Sunday night, Chris (the bartender) walks up to me in the waiter station and tells me to go say hi to one of his buddies sitting at the bar (apparently he thought I was hot). Funny thing to know: Ten minutes before, another guy from the bar tried to make a move on me as I was seating costumers. As I walked past him, he leaned into me, slightly pushing me with his shoulder. Then we parted separate ways and he laughed it off, pretending I was trying to get away from him (which is partially true.)

Anyways, Chris exp lanes what his friend looks like and tells me he's sitting at the end of the bar.

Right. Black shirt. Black hat. End of bar.

So I approach and tap the guy who was trying to get at me earlier and see Chris In the back shaking his head and hands that that was the wrong guy......

THHHEEEENNNNN he points at the other end of the bar.

Of coarse. There had to be two guys with black shirts and hats on both ends of the bar. Anyways I come up to the right guy and chat for a sec. (Hate it when you get set up by people and cant really get out of a situation.) He tells me his name... I tell him mine, then I get back to work

Then he approaches my Hostess stand and small talks there as well. Obvious that he had a little too much to drink, since the cheesiest line he came up with was "So tell me a little more about yourself"......Good one....
Anyways we talk for a little and he asks me how old I was. 19.
"Really? You carry yourself a little older that that."
"How old'd you think I was"
"mmmm....How old are you?"
"26......well anyways Ima get back to the bar"
Nice way of telling me Im young. Respect for the guy tho- I was actually surprised that he backed off right when he found out how young I was.
Anyways.....the piks were all taken off google... but the guy did somewhat look like the guy from my story. Oh and I obviously abbreviated the convos a little. That was just a little something that happens very often and so I decided to share this story with you guys.

Last nights intertainment!

So yesterday we, as a youth, decided to meet up at a local christian university (YWAM) for thier 50th celebration.

We were supposto to meet up at 5:30pm. But, as usual, we encountered some kind of ''problem'' right when we needed to leave. I locked both, my keys and phone in my car.. and I needed to wait for like an hour for my dad to come and open my car with the spare.

So, we had some seets saved for us, but since we got there so late we had to sit in the back-which wasnt soo bad cuz there were huge screens so we could see. Anyways... at the end of the celebration, they had our churches ''Island Breeze'' performers do an awsome dance presentation.. It was soo cool.

But, both fortunately and unfortunately, It started to pour!!!!! I dont know what it is about us always being in the middle of rain storms and getting soaked! I love it tho-it always gets up by surprise. The reason why it was unfortunate was because we couldnt finish watching our show since everyone was outside, drenched. We ended up leaving early because of it.

Anyways here are some pictures of what is similar to the dance-cuz I was too far to take actual pictures myself and it was too dark anyways. I got these off google.

Rodger the cockroach

So... for the last couple of months I had this disgusting little cockroach living in my car. The nasty little creep only came out at night, when he is most disgusting, to taunt me. Apparently he lives in my air vents and every night when I get into my car he hides in there... After a while I decided to name him. Steff came up with the perfect name..... Rodger(but with an accent like rojjah). So by now every ones used to him.

Yesterday, or last night, he got the guts to just sit there when I got into my car-very unusual. I sat there for a second, waiting for him to crawl back home, but he didn't. I got a little cautious so I began to blow on him. Instead of crawling back into his usual hiding area, he crawled more towards me, which unexpectedly creeped me out so I screamed.. but still not in his hole. So I took an envelope I found on the passenger seat and swooped him out of my car, as I screamed the second time. Unfortunate for myself, I scooped him onto my own bare foot, which caused me to scream for the third time. By this time Steff and Sab poked their heads out their window(because I was leaving their home) to see if I was alright. I explained the situation and they both congratulated me with my long anticipated success. The End.

The Shack

I have finally finished reading an incredible book called The Shack, by William Young. This book could be the single most inportant book I recomend any young adult to read- but expessially for christian young adults. The more I got into this book, the more I began to understand Gods true heart and how extensive his love for his creation truely is. It illistrates the depth of Jesus's pure love, enough to give up his life willingly for his children. I constantly found myself tearing up while reading this tradgic yet commeping testimony. while consuming all of the info from this book, I saw how God detests religion and for what reasons. This book is good for those strugling with understanding who God is and why he allows certain things to happen when they happen.

FOR ANY ONE WHO MISUNDERSTANDS GODS LOVE AND CONFUSES IT FOR SOMETHING ENTIRELY DIFFERENT, OR IS STRUGLING WITH ANY TYPE OF RELATIONSHIP, OR BLAMES THEMSELVES FOR SOMETHING THAT HAPPENED, OR HAS SUFFERED A LOSS OR TRADGETY-THIS BOOK IS FOR YOU.

I have an new outlook to God and my relationship with him. !
This is a book worth-while.

A passage from the book:

Breath in me... Deep
That I might breath... and live
And hold me close that i might sleep

Come kiss me wind and take my breath
Till you and I are one
And we will dance among the tombs
Until all death is gone

And no one knows that we exist
Wrapped in each others arms
Exept the one who blew the breath
That hides me safe from harm

Come kiss me wind and take my breath
Till you and I are one
And we will dance among the tombs
Untill all death is gone.

Wedding time!

My cousin Yelayna got married on the 15th and what a beautiful wedding it was! Iwas in a very secluded aread with mountains surrounding three sides and the ocean on one. The view of the sun setting behind the jungle filled moutains with all sorts of differnt plantaion life people dont usually get to see. I loved how it wasnt a huge wedding and everyone new how to enjoy themselfs and feel comfotable even if they didnt noe everyone else. At the end of the wedding, the had an open floor and people were just busting some pretty sick dance moves! loads of fun!

Oh and this was the best wedding food I had ever tried! Anyways here are some piks from the wedding that I edited.....
